On June 14, 2026, the 23rd World Blood Donor Day will be observed. This year, let us turn our attention to the ordinary yet extraordinary blood donors — and to the critical first step that ensures every transfusion is safe: accurate ABO and RhD blood grouping.

Blood is the river of life. From emergency resuscitation and surgical procedures to maternal hemorrhage and routine treatment for blood disorders, blood transfusion is an irreplaceable cornerstone of modern medicine. But transfusion must first be safe. Incompatible ABO blood grouping can trigger intravascular hemolysis, acute kidney failure, and even death within minutes.

Therefore, every unit of blood must undergo a critical identity confirmation after collection and before transfusion: Is it type A, B, AB, or O? Is it RhD positive or negative? The RhD-negative blood type — commonly known as “golden blood” or “panda blood” — accounts for only 0.3% to 0.5% of the Chinese population, making rapid and accurate primary screening essential for timely identification and management of rare blood types.

In an ideal world, blood typing would be as quick and reliable as taking a temperature. However, traditional laboratory methods rely on centrifuges and trained personnel, making them difficult to deploy on mobile blood donation buses, at remote collection sites, or in emergency rooms. That is why the ABO & RhD Rapid Test has become indispensable.

Our company proudly offers an ABO & RhD Rapid Test based on the Solid Phase Method. In this technology, anti-A, anti-B, and anti-D monoclonal antibodies are pre-coated onto a solid-phase carrier. During testing, only one drop of fingerstick or whole blood sample is required. Antigens on the surface of red blood cells bind specifically to the immobilized antibodies, producing a clear colorimetric or agglutination pattern that is easy to interpret — without centrifugation or complex equipment. The entire process takes just 1-15 minutes.

Compared with traditional slide or paper methods, the solid-phase approach offers significantly higher sensitivity and specificity, effectively minimizing false negatives or weak agglutination. Clinical evaluations have shown that this test achieves over 99 accuracy for ABO grouping, and its detection capability for the RhD antigen is comparable to laboratory-based microcolumn gel methods. The test is lightweight, easy to store, and individually packaged for single use — making it especially suitable for on-site screening on blood donation buses, pre-transfusion testing in emergency rooms, primary healthcare facilities, and field medical teams.

On World Blood Donor Day 2026, we call on all healthy citizens to join the ranks of voluntary blood donors. At the same time, we reaffirm our commitment to safeguarding every life-saving unit of blood with an accurate, rapid, and easy-to-useABO & RhD Rapid Test — powered by solid-phase technology.

Blood can be regenerated, but life cannot be replaced. Let us use science and technology to protect every safe transfusion.
